Join textile artist, Emily Valentine, as you learn Shibori tie-dye folding techniques to create a set of cloth dinner napkins using rich synthetic indigo dye! Indigo has a fascinating history and creates a brilliant blue effect that is unrivaled. Learn four different wrapping techniques including accordion fold and bound resist to create a set of four coordinated but unique dinner napkins.

If you choose to have supplies included for this virtual art workshop you will receive:

  • Synthetic Jacquard Indigo Dye Chemicals (pre-reduced indigo, soda ash, sodium hydrosulfite)
  • 4 Cotton Napkins
  • Various Wood Shapes and Bands for Shibori Techniques
  • Nitrile Gloves and Latex Gloves

Please note this class will require access to water and a 2+ gallon bucket or plastic container with a lid. If you are concerned about getting dye in the space you are working on, you might want a plastic sheet or garbage bag to use as a drop cloth.

Can kids take the workshops?

All classes will work well for young artists ages 12 and up. Some past classes are more kid-friendly and are great for parents and children to do together. Use our search function to find these out.
